Daily Mail – An apparently intoxicated woman broke into a stranger’s home in eastern South Dakota and tried to breast feed a two-month-old child.  The baby’s shocked mother was awoken by dogs and called 911 at around 5am on Sunday.

She told officers that a woman she didn’t know had entered her Brookings home and attempted to feed her daughter. Rebecca Silva, the 24-year-old suspect, then crawled into bed and proceeded to treat the house as her own, police said.Silva denied the allegations, claiming she never tried to feed the infant and that she had been invited into the home.

She said she had met the woman the night before. ‘I did not break into her house. She invited me in,’ Silva claimed. ‘She gave me her pajamas. She lied to the cops that I broke into her house.”

Classic she said – she said.  If I had a nickle for every time a woman broke into another woman’s house and tried to breastfeed their child under the guise that she was “invited”, I would be a millionaire.

To me this is simple.  Rebecca is 100% not at fault here.  Once you give someone pajamas, that’s the universal sign to make yourself at home.  That counts for grabbing something from the fridge, using the bathroom, and breastfeeding the sleeping 2-month old in the next room.  If anything this mother should be grateful.  You know how many times a baby wakes up during the night?  Like 25 times.

All Rebecca was trying to do is give the woman a break.  Get some of that great REM sleep.  It’s no wonder the woman woke up and was all cranky, she hasn’t had a good nights sleep in two months.

I just wish there were more Rebecca Silva’s out there to help all new mother’s get some well deserved rest and relaxation.
