Islanders moving to Brooklyn, Warren Moon calls race foul, and the Tigers play the Giants tonight by Dutch

  • You all know how I feel about the NHL but this deserves some play as NYC will get yet another NHL hockey team to not play this year.  In a big move for the NHL community of fans, the Islanders will move to Barclay’s Center which is already home to the recently re-located Nets franchise.  They have leased the Center for 25 years which is much longer than anyone expects the NHL to be around.
  • Warren Moon is coming to the defense of Cam Newton’s sophomore slump.  In a comment given to Yahoo Sports, Moon is quoted as saying “I heard somebody compare him to Vince Young. It’s the same old crap — it’s always a comparison of one black to another black. I get tired of it. I get tired of defending it,”  What Moon fails to realize or comprehend is that Cam Newton is being compared to Vince Young because they are young and have a similar style of play.  Did he get compared to Michael Vick or Donovan McNabb, NO.  Because they have long successful careers.  Cam Newton is a running/throwing QB just like Vince Young was and both had/are having bad sophomore years.
  • In bigger news, the Tigers and Giants play tonight in game 1 of the MLB World Series.  Justin Verlander will go against Barry Zito.  Neither team has any significant injuries to report but the Giants will be taking the field without their All-Star, Melky Cabrera, who was sat by the team and has not joined them for the playoffs since testing positive for a performance enhancing drug.  While both teams have good pitching staffs, it’s offense that heavily favors the Tigers as do most experts.  With Delmon Young, Miguel Cabrera, and Prince Fielder, it’s going to be too much offense for this talented Giants pitching staff to handle.
